The Community Service Center of Wilmore-High Bridge began in 1985 to help families in need. Originally started to provide clothing to families in need, the Center has expanded its services and staffing through the years. Currently the Center operates with a full time Director, work-study students and volunteers. The CSC is governed by a Board of Directors made up of eighteen to twenty four local citizens. The Needs Assistance program has expanded to include budgeting and emergency financial assistance. Assistance with utilities, food, shelter, and household goods are also available.
In 2013, the CSC moved into the Wilmore UMC basement building on Main Street in Wilmore! This move helped the CSC become more visible within the community and, therefore, do more! While the future of the CSC is currently unwritten, we’re excited to be able to continue this growth and visibility.
The mission of the Community Service Center of Wilmore-High Bridge, Inc. is to provide restorative social services in the Christian tradition of mercy and hope. We do this through community-based intervention strategies for persons and households experiencing economic distress in our service area (40390). This is accomplished through our Thrift Shop Food Pantry, and Needs Assistance programs.
